With Character Sheet, Anthe Hermans works within her broader project Space for Reaction, in which she explores the complex dynamics surrounding domestic violence. She focuses specifically on breaking the stereotype of the “ideal victim” — often portrayed as female, passive, and weak.

Since domestic violence is difficult to discuss, Hermans uses games as a methodology, particularly tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons. In these fantasy worlds, participants can, through a unique and visually playful Character Sheet designed by Hermans, create characters and explore the fictional setting. The design encourages reflection and makes the process of entering and leaving the fictional world more tangible.
