Studio
MASEREEL’s large studio consists of several professionally equipped printmaking workshops where there is room for development, creation and reflection as well as preparation, production and dialogue.
The main workshop in our dome-shaped building mainly houses analogue techniques: screen printing, intaglio (e.g. etching), lithography and relief printing (e.g. typography, woodcut and lino). Our iconic igloo studios can also be used for this purpose.
We also have, in the star-shaped building, a modern digital studio where there is room for RISO, laser cutting, UV printing and other digital techniques. In addition to the digital studio, there is also a work and presentation area, including a large magnetic wall to hang work up.
The joint use of the studio by several professional artists facilitates unexpected learning moments, spontaneous exchanges and constructive feedback among peers. At the same time, the studio is both flexible and spacious (≈ 500 m²), providing each resident with sufficient individual space.
Our aim is to allow residents to work as independently as possible in the studio. On weekdays, our master printers are there to provide them with expert advice and technical support. They are also responsible for hands-on introductions at the beginning of each residency period. Prior knowledge of printmaking techniques is therefore not required.
Please note: unfortunately, purely production-oriented projects and formal-technical research fall outside the scope of MASEREEL.
