MASEREEL is a contemporary art center that combines an artist-focused program with an international residency program for artists and critics, with special attention to printed matter-at-large.

Throughout the year, we open our doors during carefully selected public moments, such as the biennial art festival Open MASEREEL (even years) and the contemporary art biennale RHIZOMA (odd years), as well as book launches, artist talks, and other events.

Outside public moments…
Outside these public moments, MASEREEL is only accessible to professionals and student groups – by prior appointment. This allows our (inter)national residents to fully focus on development, reflection, and exchange in our professionally equipped studios.

Getting there

Bicycle 

MASEREEL is located near bicycle point 87. We have plenty of charging points for electric bicycles.

In Kasterlee and Tielen you can use shared bikes by Hoppy to reach us. Click here for more info.

Train and bus 

Take the train to Turnhout or Geel. From these stations there is a bus connection to Kasterlee (line 49). At the Houtum bus stop in Kasterlee get out and turn right into the Zaardenstraat at the traffic lights. The first street on the right is the Masereeldijk. You will find MASEREEL at 200 meters on the right.

The station in Tielen is a good option if you can bring your (folding) bike on the train: this station is a 22 minute bike ride away from MASEREEL (you cycle right through the Hoge Rielen nature reserve).

Car

To get to MASEREEL take exit 24 on highway E34 (Turnhout-Centrum) or via exit 23 on highway E313 (Geel-West). Continue your journey on the N19. Take a left on the Lichtaartsebaan and follow the MASEREEL signboards.

Parking 

There is ample visitor parking, including charging stations, on our property.
