The publication EQSNC (Mail Order Catalog) offers an overview of Emmanuelle Quertain’s digital experiments at the Frans Masereel Centre during the summer of 2020, as part of Hibernus#1. By scanning paintings and dictionary entries, she creates distorted ‘glitch’ images that explore the fluidity of language and visual representation. This process challenges both the authority of language and the value of art within a consumer society.

The catalog presents the series as ‘small models’, using a specific technique and timeframe, inspired by Duchamp’s Boîte-en-valise.

The catalog is available in three colours: blue, red and yellow.

This edition was developed within the framework of Hibernus #1.

The publication was nominated for the Prize Bob Calle in 2023.

For Connexion #1, six Belgian art organizations were asked to select an artist for a solo presentation in one of the buildings of Toison d’Or, a well-known shopping gallery in the heart of Brussels. In this context, Emmanuelle Quertain presents the EQSNC project, which she developed over the past two years in the workshop of the Frans Masereel Centrum.
