Deep Fried Cursed Cat (2025) is printed on heavy blotting paper with 900 perforated tabs. It uses plant-based, food-safe ink and alludes to the historical link between this type of paper and LSD.

Eva & Franco Mattes’ Cursed Cat sculpture was literally and conceptually “deep-fried” by chef Franziska Von Guten and printed by Caleb Kesey, grandson of counterculture icon Ken Kesey.

Inspired by the aesthetic of Deep Fried Memes, the piece captures the chaotic visual language of internet culture, where images are filtered until they become distorted. Emerging from social media, these memes embody the hectic energy of the web and reflect themes like overstimulation and digital absurdity.

This edition was developed within the framework of RHIZOMA 2025.
