Joris Van de Moortel’s contribution to Hibernus#1 unfolds as a personal mythical universe, built around seven elements: nature, wax, fire, smoke, white, glass, and vandalism. This alchemy comes to life in seven lithographs, inspired by a sixteenth-century alchemist’s kitchen by Bruegel.

Each lithograph is treated with one of the elements and integrated into a sculptural structure, like ingredients in a performative cookbook. Archetypal tarot figures from Van de Moortel’s own deck enhance the alchemical atmosphere, anchoring the work in his magical realm.

This edition was developed within the framework of Hibernus #1.
