CALL TO ACTION
What does MASEREEL mean to you?
On October 1, the Flemish Government decided to cut €47 million from the cultural sector. Many dedicated and valuable organisations were hit hard. Unexpectedly, MASEREEL has also been affected with exceptional severity.
This unannounced cut places significant pressure on our organisation. Nearly half of our funding has been removed. For MASEREEL, this means facing difficult choices and fundamentally reassessing our future plans. We are deeply concerned about our team, their families, and the future of MASEREEL as an established and valued institution within the cultural landscape of the Kempen region.
Art and culture play an essential role in our society. Every day at MASEREEL, we witness how artists, art professionals, visitors, and our team come together, connect, and inspire one another. Artists and makers cannot thrive without the organisations, residencies, and art centres that support their development and make their practice visible.
In the coming days, we will assess the full consequences of this decision. In the meantime, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for the many messages of support. We feel truly carried by your solidarity.
